Pilates FAQ:
Your Questions, Answered

What to expect:

A warm welcome from your instructor and classmates.
A gentle, guided introduction to Pilates fundamentals.

Encouragement, not intimidation.

You move at your own pace

We recommend wearing comfortable, fitted workout clothes that allow you to move freely and let your instructor see your alignment. Grippy socks are mandatory for added stability and safety during your session. Socks are available for purchase at the studio.

Just bring yourself and a water bottle if you’d like! We provide all the mats, reformers, and equipment you’ll need for class, so you can simply show up and focus on your workout.

If it’s your first time, please plan to arrive about 15 minutes early. This gives us time to welcome you, review your goals, and get you set up comfortably before class begins.

Mat Pilates uses your body weight and small props to strengthen and tone muscles, while Reformer Pilates uses a spring-based machine to add resistance, increase intensity, and offer a wider range of exercises. Both improve strength, flexibility, and alignment, just with different approaches.

Not at all! Our classes are designed for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Instructors offer modifications and guidance throughout class, so you can move at your own pace and build strength and confidence over time.

Always consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Let your instructor know about any injuries, medical conditions, or physical limitations before class so they can offer modifications and ensure a safe, supportive workout tailored to your needs.

We value punctuality, respect, and mindfulness in our studio. Please arrive 5–10 minutes before class to allow time for setup and check-in. Late arrivals may not be permitted to join the session to maintain
class flow and safety standards. Please silence cell phones and respect the peaceful studio environment.

We understand that life happens, but consistency is key to your progress and our community balance.

  • Class sessions cancelled 12 hours or more before start time will be accommodated to reschedule
    without penalty.
  • Late cancel or no-show: forfeiture of a $35 class session (charged or deducted from your package).

We welcome expecting mothers to continue their Pilates journey in a safe and supportive environment. Prenatal clients must inform their instructor of their pregnancy prior to class. Depending on trimester and medical advice, some exercises may be modified or replaced.

• Medical clearance is required before attending group reformer or mat sessions.
• Avoid supine (lying flat) exercises after the first trimester.
• Focus on core stability, pelvic floor engagement, and breath control.
• Specialized prenatal private sessions are recommended for tailored support.

Your safety is our priority. Please notify your instructor of any injuries, surgeries, or physical limitations prior to class so modifications can be made accordingly.
• A doctor’s clearance may be required for recent surgeries or chronic pain conditions.
• Clients recovering from injury may be advised to book private sessions for rehabilitation-focused instruction.
• Studio47 instructors are trained to provide safe alternatives but are not medical professionals; follow your doctor’s advice first.

Pregnancy and postpartum phases require mindful, gradual progression. Our instructors can help you transition back safely into regular Pilates routines.
• Obtain clearance from your healthcare provider before resuming Pilates after delivery.
• Focus on rebuilding core and pelvic floor strength before attempting advanced movements.
• Private reformer sessions are strongly encouraged during the initial postpartum phase.

For scheduling, cancellations, or medical concerns, please contact Studio47’s front desk or message us via Vagaro. Your wellness and comfort are our top priorities — we’re here to support your journey.
